Research Associate - Fiscal and Valuations

Job Description

We are looking for a Research Associate to join our Fiscal & Valuations team in Edinburgh.  Our long history in the upstream sector is underpinned by our deep understanding and modelling of fiscal regimes around the world. We provide unique insight to our research and consulting clients, industry and Governments, on how fiscal terms impact investment decisions and the valuation of assets.   

About you and how you can excel in this role

You have strong numerical modelling skills, ideally developed through prior experience using Microsoft Excel at an advanced level. You demonstrate the ability to proactively monitor, gather and interpret the information required to understand, create and test commercial models. You have an analytical mindset and can formulate an opinion supported by a variety of data and information. As you grow your specialist knowledge you will enjoy communicating complex or technical information, delivering written and verbal content that is easily understood.

About the role

As part of a world-class team of industry experts, you will develop a sophisticated understanding of fiscal terms and their impact on valuations and investment decisions. As you learn, you will take a lead role in fiscal modelling, creating new country models and improving or updating existing models. As your knowledge of petroleum economics and fiscal analysis grows, you will develop and communicate opinions on fiscal change, business environment, government energy policy and regional geopolitics. 

You will develop a network of industry contacts to help source and validate fiscal data and assumptions. With a genuine interest in understanding clients’ businesses, priorities and challenges, you will work with sales and product colleagues to support existing clients and develop new client opportunities.
