Job Description

We are looking for a Research Data Associate to join our Commodity Analytics Data Team in Beijing.  The Commodity Analytics Data Team team is responsible for the quality of data that is held in our data platform as well as providing support to the research teams around processes and workflows.    This is a fantastic opportunity to join our committed data community.

 

About you and how you can excel in this role

You understand the value of data for business decision-making and want to work in a leading research, analytics and consultancy organization.

You have full MS Office proficiency and can work with databases such as NoSQL or SQL Server. You are comfortable managing and interpreting data from different sources, preferably utilizing a flexible programming language like Python. You can also make good use of data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

You are hardworking and inquisitive, and known for your communication and problem-solving skills. You thrive when working with others across different teams as well as independently to get things done on time. It makes it more interesting for you when you have multiple projects on the go.

You are a self-starter looking to add value using your data experience in a collaborative, commercial and client-centric environment.  

Your real passion is data, problem-solving and customer service, making you credible and reliable with stakeholders. 

 

About the role

This is a role in which you will help us achieve our goal to efficiently deliver quality data of the highest integrity to our clients.

As a key user of our data platform, you will apply best practices to utilise or maintain databases, tools, models and processes from data sourcing to client delivery.

Working in a team of data experts, you will regularly perform complex data extracts, interpretation and reporting of data to derive or support analysis with internal or external clients. You will have primary responsibility for the ownership or manipulation of a particular data set. 

Wood Mackenzie’s ongoing digital transformation aims to redefine how customers interact with our comprehensive, industry-leading data. You will collaborate across different teams and functions including Research and Technology to the improve efficiency of processes.
