Job Description

Verisk 3E is looking to add a bilingual German speaking Staff Attorney to the legal team.  Reporting to the Senior Staff Attorney, you will work to draft, negotiate and review both domestic and international contracts.  This position can be based in Bethesda, MD; Canton, OH; Carlsbad, CA or remotely from a home office.

  • Draft, negotiate and review a variety of domestic and international commercial contracts, with a particular emphasis on revenue generating contracts with clients, including master service agreements, software licenses, professional services agreements, renewals and confidentiality agreements.
  • Participate in and contribute to the development and on-going review of relevant processes, guidelines and procedures relating to the company’s commercial contracting activities.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel.
  • Attend professional development and training sessions.
  • Completes all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Plan.
  • Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor, LL.B., or foreign equivalent and admittance to a State Bar of any US Jurisdiction or admitted to practice law in Germany
  • Minimum of 1 – 3 years law firm experience working on commercial contracts and/or 2 – 3 years in-house experience negotiating commercial contracts, preferably for a global corporation
  • Superb legal drafting skills, with affinity for using language to achieve compromise
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple and varied negotiations with enthusiasm and attention to detail
  • Must be a self-starter, resourceful and able to participate in a highly collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
  • Languages: Proficiency in both spoken and written English and German
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation
