Job Description

To develop a sound strategic plan, one must decide what actions to take and, equally important, what actions not to take. Working directly with the Vice President of Strategy at AIR Worldwide, you will support select research initiatives where your conclusions will inform recommendations on the actions we should take to grow the business and ward off competitive threats.  Those recommendations are made directly to the President of the company.

We are looking for a person who is innately curious, highly analytical, strong attention to detail, very organized, knows how to connect seemingly disparate bits of information and draw conclusions, keeps comprehensive documentation of their research, knows how to hunt down information using more than just the first page of results from a Google search, and enjoys having their research challenged by talking it out in a fun, productive way.

About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role

·       Independently research numerous companies to identify and describe their:

Solutions (i.e. products, services, etc.), value proposition(s), current success level (in isolation and relative to their competitors), growth potential, attractiveness as a business partner or an acquisition target, their main competitors, the level of competitive threat they impose to AIR Worldwide, their client base, and other characteristics.

 

·       Document research in standardized way, add to a research repository so it can be easily searched and reported upon in recurring strategy meetings, debriefs with executive team, and the occasional last-minute request for information.

 

·       Join meetings with representatives from companies being researched, ask questions, take comprehensive notes to add to research repository.

 

·       Develop presentation materials and reports as needed

Required Qualification/Skills:

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (or comparable applications)

·       Strong attention to detail

·       Proactive problem-solving skills

·       Results-oriented

·       Clear communicator (verbal, written, and visual)

 

Qualifications

·       Knowledge of risk management/insurance, basic statistics, usages of data, and technology

Education and Experience Requirements:

·       Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, or related field of study

·       0 – 2 years of experience
