Job Description

About the role

As part of a world-class team of oil market experts, you will closely monitor and assess key events and commercial developments in the oil market, related industries and technologies of interest. You will review, prioritise and analyse industry data and information on oil supply, and populate and run proprietary models to support the production of oil supply/market forecasts. You will use the results of this work to produce quantitative analyses and qualitative reviews of the highest quality: thought-provoking articles, presentations and reports.

As part of our integrated and collaborative environment, you will provide analytical support to consulting engagements, support sales and work within cross-team projects. You will work with other teams across Wood Mackenzie to ensure the validity and consistency of our research.

You will be adept at modelling country and regional oil supply and understand the key issues that inform that view. You will develop an understanding of the impact of corporate strategies, business environment, exploration, government energy policy and regional geopolitics on supply. You will communicate with colleagues, clients and prospects on key issues and trends in the industry.

Through your research and responding to client queries, you will strengthen your network of contacts at key companies and bodies. You will develop a unique perspective and understanding of the oil market. You will be part of a team where your contribution to our industry-leading written reports, supply modelling and presentations will be valued.

About you and how you can excel in this role

You are passionate about oil market analysis and developing an in-depth understanding of the energy sector. You have an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, which has been proven in your academic and work experience to date. You are comfortable collecting and interpreting data, articulating your findings in a clear and insightful manner. You also have a flair for writing and communication. Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) is required.

Your long-term aspiration is to be an influential subject matter expert setting the industry agenda. You are looking for a role where you can build on your existing knowledge and learn from others in a collaborative, commercial and client-centric environment. You also enjoy sharing what you have learnt with others.

If you are looking to further build your network of clients and contacts in the industry, then this role will enable you to use your effective client engagement skills.

You can work independently and as part of a team, generating ideas you want to share. You should have the ability to work under pressure and within challenging time frames without compromising accuracy and rigor. The way in which you work is productive and driven, striving to be best in class.
