Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Data Manager to lead our Americas Upstream Oil & Gas Conventional data team.

This role is based in Houston although other locations may be considered.

This team is a critical element in Wood Mackenzie’s ongoing digital transformation that is redefining how customers interact with our comprehensive, industry-leading data, and the value they get from it.

This is a key leadership role in implementing our strategy and transforming the way we source, validate and publish our datasets.  The team will be responsible for the industry expertise required in this transformation of our data.

About the role

You will lead a team of data analysts, specifically ensure that your team produce industry leading data that is ready for research analysts and end-users to produce high quality, timely data-driven analysis, insight and content.

You will be able to prioritise what matters to clients and your team. You will be a role model so that your team is equally connected and remains current on the latest developments.

It will be essential to have strong relationships and work in close collaboration with the central Data Organisation, as well as our Product and Strategy & Improvement teams to help develop and ensure Research data teams adhere and embed best practice.

You will work closely with other members of the research leadership, SMEs and the Research Centres of Excellence to identify and capture new data-sets, and to interrogate the data in innovative ways to surface industry leading data driven insights.

You will be expected to contribute new ideas, engage in constructive debate with stakeholders and leadership teams, and ultimately align around key decisions and approaches to deliver with you team. 

You will ensure the team ways of working are aligned and compliant with defined methodologies and approaches. Internally, you will drive the change long embedded workflows and drive efficiency and the timeliness and quality of deliverables. You will lead on wider initiatives and projects.
