Job Description

We are looking for a Research Associate  to join our Global Chemicals team. Wood Mackenzie Chemicals provides integrated commercial and strategic subscription research and consultancy services for the chemicals, fibres, films, and plastics sectors. We provide insight combined with proprietary data, helping companies identify trends and take advantage of opportunities. Together, we inspire and innovate the markets we serve. The Chemicals team is expanding rapidly and is a key vector of growth for Wood Mackenzie.

About you and how you can excel in this role

You are passionate about commodities and/or chemicals and you want to develop an in-depth understanding of the energy sector. You have an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, which has been proven in your academic and/or work experience to date. You are comfortable collecting and interpreting data, articulating your findings in a clear and insightful manner. You also have a flair for writing and communication and confidence in presenting to an audience.

Your long-term aspiration is to be an influential subject matter expert setting the industry agenda. You are looking for a role where you can build on your existing knowledge and learn from others in a collaborative, commercial and client-centric environment. You also enjoy sharing what you have learnt with others.

You have an excellent command of English, both written and spoken, and also have adequate written and verbal communication in at least one mainstream Asian language. You have a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel in particular).

About the role

You will be a valuable member of the Wood Mackenzie’s Petrochemical team, analysing the olefins chain of products. You will research and validate markets, assets, ownerships and strategies and will assist in producing cost, price and margin forecasts at the regional and global levels.

You will produce high-quality research in the form of thought-provoking reports, presentations and articles.

Through your research and responding to client queries, you will strengthen your network of contacts at key companies and industry associations. You will develop a unique perspective and understanding of the petrochemical industry. Your contribution to our industry-leading written reports, supply-demand models and presentations will be valued. You will get the opportunity to travel.
