Job Description

We are looking for a Research Analyst to join our Metals Research team.  Specialising in Base Metal Mine Costs you will be part of a highly respected group responsible for analysing all aspects of the supply/ demand dynamic to produce regular multi-client research relating to the aluminum, copper, lead, gold, nickel and zinc commodities.  Key outputs encompass cost analysis, concentrates and markets outlooks, as well as client-specific consulting assignments. This is a role will be based in a one of the following locations: New York, London, Toronto, Santiago or Delhi. 

 

About you and how you can excel in this role

You are passionate about metals and mining and you are developing an in-depth understanding of the sector. You have an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, which has been proven in your academic and work experience to date. Your experience includes working in a commercial research team, ideally in a metals cost discipline.

You are comfortable collecting and interpreting data, articulating your findings in a clear and insightful manner. This is particularly relevant when articulating your understanding of mining cost drivers.  You also have a flair for writing and communication with strong presentation skills.  Competence in another language(s) would be highly desirable. 

Your long-term aspiration is to be an influential subject matter expert setting the industry agenda. You are looking for a role where you can build on your existing knowledge and learn from others in a collaborative, commercial and client-centric environment. About the role

As part of a world-class team of industry experts, you will quickly become adept at providing metal mine cost information and related services.  Your responsibilities will include managing and interpreting data and information from our contacts and sources to be included in our databases and research/consulting offerings.  You will provide our clients with in-depth market analysis relating to metals mine industry.

You will work effectively with senior experts and the wider metals and mining team to deliver content and commercial agendas in line with product strategy.  This will be used to produce high-quality research in the form of thought-provoking articles, presentations and reports.

Through your research and responding to client queries, you will strengthen your network of contacts at key companies and bodies. Your contribution to our industry-leading written reports, economic models and presentations will be valued. You will get the opportunity to travel.

You will also work collaboratively across the other Woodmac regions within the metals and mining research team on a regular basis as part of the projects you are part of.  You will also coordinate with our Consulting team to support their work.
