Job Description

Wood Mackenzie is looking for a dynamic Managing Consultant with outstanding credentials to take responsibility for our project delivery and project management of downstream oil consulting mandates. This role is integral to a high functioning and innovative team, that combines deep industry knowledge, strong client relationships and business acumen to provide advice to clients based on real substance.

The person that fills this role must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, energized by a challenge, passionate about the downstream oil industry and have a track record of project management and delivery in a strategic & client facing context.

What you'll do….

Your principal responsibility will be focused on project delivery and project management of downstream consulting mandates. You will provide input into a range of consulting projects, through the operation of sophisticated internal models, developing new analysis and creating presentations and reports. You will maintain effective and timely communication with clients and present findings clearly and concisely.

You will be responsible for project management – ensuring sound planning and delivery of consulting mandates on time and on budget and managing the contribution of others. You will play a role in developing and coaching other members of the team, and you will develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders from across Wood Mackenzie.

Finally, you will support senior colleagues to grow of the practice through business and offering development. 

Who you are….

You will come with outstanding credentials and have experience in downstream oil/refining in a consulting environment or in strategy/commercial roles.

You will have:

  • An understanding of downstream oil industry dynamics, commercial operations, business models and strategies.
  • A track record of project management and delivery in a client facing context.
  • An analytical mind-set and ability to apply detailed knowledge and experience of the downstream oil/refining industries to a broad range of consulting projects and client situations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in internal and client-facing environments.
  • An optimistic attitude and be a collaborative team player
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas is essential:
    • Management or strategy consulting
    • Experience of commercial due diligence
    • Downstream industry experience in a commercial/strategy role

Although not essential, a second language, particularly Spanish, French, Russian or Arabic would also be desirable.

This role can be based in London, Edinburgh or Dubai
