Job Description

We are looking for a Iron Ore and Steel Consultant to join our China bulks Research team in Beijing in China. As a part of a global team, the China bulks team provides clients with high-quality commercial analysis in the bulks sector, to help clients to make better decision to secure their business success. The China bulks team play a vital role in formulating Wood Mackenzie's global bulk commodity forecasts by providing high-level regional analysis for Chinese iron ore, coal and steel sectors on-ground.

 

About you and how you can excel in this role

You have some experience of working in a commercial research team, ideally in a metals costs discipline. You have strong presentation skills along with a strong understanding of Excel are required.

You have core competencies, including personal impact, issue identification, problem solving and analysis, planning, implementation & control, client Focused, building & maintaining relationships.

 

About the role

Reporting to Senior Manager in the bulks research team, you will be working within a high-performing global team and be responsible for producing world-class commercial analysis. Specifically, you have a good understanding of iron ore mining and steelmaking cost drivers and be able to articulate the Wood Mackenzie regional view.

You will update and maintain iron ore mine and steel plant cost models and databases with a high level of accuracy, you will need to analyse, author and deliver global research such that high quality standards are maintained.

You will interact with other managers/analysts in the bulks research team on a regular basis in order to create a holistic view of the sector with particular focus on Asia. You will work effectively with senior experts, and wider bulks team to deliver the content and commercial agendas in line with the product strategy and broader group strategy.

You are able to manage your workload, ensuring the most efficient use and allocation of your time. And you will coordinate with consulting team to provide resources, where appropriate, for consulting mandates, ensuring the required support and developmental initiatives are in place for your reports. You will develop and maintain relationships with senior individuals in key companies, clients and national institutions.
