Job Description

Do you have a passion for GIS and want to help the most advanced insurance and reinsurance companies analyze their risks geospatially? If so, AIR has an outstanding opportunity for you!

The Director for AIR GIS Solutions will define and lead the development of GIS tools and analytics to serve the diverse needs of our clients. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in GIS technologies, a blend of business and technical skill, and the ability to define a vision and make it a reality. This position reports to the Vice President of Product.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as AIR’s evangelist for GIS technology, by assessing client’s needs, technology trends, and competitive      offerings to develop GIS product requirements and support a long term product roadmap
  • Oversee the entire product life cycle of GIS product offerings from strategic planning to release management
  • Specify market requirements for current and future GIS product offerings by conducting market research supported by ongoing visits to existing and potential customers
  • Prioritize GIS product directions and features to maximize return on investment and client satisfaction
  • Analyze potential partner relationships for GIS technologies
  • Communicate with software development and quality assurance groups to coordinate the successful deployment and delivery of product releases

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Four or more years of software product management/product marketing experience
  • Two to four years of experience associated with design and implementation of GIS technologies in enterprise solutions and/or custom applications in Insurance industry or other GIS products used by the Insurance Industry
  • Ability to think strategically and relate to customers, senior management, and project/technical team members
  • Ability to engage, drive, and support GIS initiatives across multiple teams
  • Capability to effectively document and verbally communicate market requirements to software development technical      staff
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, presentation, and leadership skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel (estimated at 30-50%)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, computer science, engineering, or other relevant field

Qualifications

 Recommended Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of proven experience in the development, release, and support of software technology
  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies and design techniques
  • MS Degree is preferred
