Principal Analyst

  • Full-time
  • Verisk Business: Wood Mackenzie

Job Description

We are looking for a Principal Analyst and to join our Latin America Upstream Research team in Buenos Aires.  Our dedicated oil and gas sector teams are located around the world, and deliver research and consulting projects based on our assessment and valuation of thousands of individual assets. Together we work with a range of clients including national and major oil companies, operators, investment banks and institutional investors.

About you and how you can excel in this role

You are passionate about upstream oil and gas and have a broad, in-depth understanding of Argentina's local energy sector in your current or previous roles in the industry. You have an analytical commercial mindset and can formulate leading-edge analysis from a variety of data and information. This is coupled with your ability to communicate, in writing or through presentation, highly complex or technical information, delivering messages that are easily understood.

You are also fully proficient in all aspects of the activities and trends of Argentina's upstream sector. You are familiar with the challenges and opportunities for E&Ps operating in Argentina's unconventional space. You thrive in a collaborative, commercial and client-centric environment.

You have a proven track record of fostering strong working relationships, including coaching and influencing others around you. The way in which you work is highly productive and driven, striving to be best-in-class and supporting others to achieve this. You are focused on continuous learning and improvement and can identify and implement better ways of working.

About the role

As part of a world-class team of industry experts, you will be adept at valuing oil and gas assets, and have a sophisticated understanding of the key issues that inform that valuation. You will also be a prominent source of insight as demonstrated by your opinions on corporate strategies, business environment, exploration, M&A deals, petroleum economics, government energy policy and regional geopolitics.

Given your engagement with your network of industry contacts, you will understand their business and priorities. You will use forums, conferences, and industry meetings to build a reputation as an influential contributor by colleagues, contacts and clients.

Your contributions will be highly influential from the beginning as you shape and define our thought leadership for Argentina's upstream space. You will be expected to lead the way as we value high-levels of client contact and pride ourselves in answering their questions.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in a similar role within the Argentina upstream market (exposure to the US Lower 48 unconventional market would be a plus)
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • English proficiency
  • Able to live and work in Buenos Aires
