Job Description

When you join AIR, you’ll be a member of a market leader developing state-of-the-art products and delivering best-in-class consulting services to a variety of clients.  You’ll use your expertise and our tools to help develop, enhance, manage, and apply the risk modeling solutions to a variety of client applications and may also be involved with direct interaction with clients regarding the analysis of their portfolios and properties.

Responsibilities, But Not Limited To:

  • Plan, manage, and timely complete large-scale GIS dataset preparation projects in support of flood model development projects
  • Manage, guide, and lead a team of over 10 GIS Analysts, both in Boston and overseas in India
  • Collect, create, process, and maintain a variety of large and diverse datasets that are input for the country-scale flood models in different regions of the world
  • Evaluate GIS data sources and datasets, perform QA, and apply necessary corrections
  • Analyze, validate, and present results using spreadsheets, charts, and maps
  • Write technical documents for internal use and distribution to clients
  • Keep abreast with latest technologies employed in creation of digital elevation datasets and have knowledge about sources of such datasets
  • Automate GIS procedures and develop new and innovative ways for Geoprocessing team workflows
  • Work as member of multi-faceted research team and assist Flood team members in ensuring best GIS practices

Experience, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Fluent in ESRI products and ModelBuilder, including ArcGIS 10.2+
  • Strong geo-analytics and geo-processing skills with emphasis on raster format
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Willingness to learn and apply new technologies, strategies, and theories is crucial. Open-minded and receptive to feedback and suggestion. With tremendous opportunity to learn and grow within the AIR Worldwide team, the applicant must be self-motivated.
  • Regular interaction between the GIS team members in Boston and India offices is required. Ability to work within a team and collaborative skills to manage work among all levels, skillsets and seniorities.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience and knowledge about techniques for creating digital terrain models from digital surface models
  • Knowledge of Python, C#, Open Source GIS, R, SQL Server, C++, Matlab
  • Experience in SQL Server database administration and syntax is a plus
  • Proven automation tasks with an eye on process improvement
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to learn elements of catastrophe modeling and insurance industry

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
