Job Description:

Verisk is seeking a software engineer with Python experience to join its Weather Solutions division in Lexington, MA. This small growing team is responsible for developing and maintaining products and services that aid clients in the insurance, restoration, and related industries in effectively responding to natural catastrophe events. The successful candidate will have a strong background in developing Python products in a commercial setting.  The candidate will interact closely with other software engineers, scientists, product managers, and other product developers.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in math, computer science, engineering, or physical science (physics, atmospheric science, earth science, meteorology, etc.).
• Proficiency in Python (at least 3 years).
• Proficiency in Linux / UNIX / shell scripting.
• Proficiency in one or more version control systems such as Git, Subversion, Perforce, IBM Rational ClearCase, etc.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience in software development of scientific or engineering applications.
• Familiarity with C++ and/or Go.
• Experience in developing software that runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing servers.
• Experience working with databases (MySQL).
• Experience developing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
