Job Description

The Accounts Payable Specialist provides high-level professional support using an application of procedures requiring use of business Accounts Payable/Accounting principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. This is an independent problem-solving and analytical position, which requires critical and creative thinking to develop, execute, and resolve invoice payment issues and processes. They are a subject matter expert who coordinates actions to resolve supplier payment issues, 1099 issues, vendor master issues, internal Purchase to Pay (P2P) employees, Procurement Category Managers, Buyers and Vericast management if necessary. They ensure payment issues are resolved without jeopardizing vendor relationships. This individual has direct, independent and autonomous responsibility related to their subject matter expertise in this position.

This is a hybrid position, so we are looking for candidates who are comfortable and available to come in to our office at 15955 La Cantera Pkwy San Antonio, TX 78256 2-3 days per week. Mondays and Fridays are work from home.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the Vendor Master records for SAP and Oracle in compliance with Vericast SOX controls. Ensures all changes, additions, retirements are performed accurately and data within SAP and Oracle are in compliance with IRS records.
  • Works closely with Procurement management and incoming addition/change requests in SharePoint.
  • Manages external resources and reviews their work for accuracy. Ensures the integrity of the data used in reporting (1099 & 1042-S reporting etc.).
  • Support audit inquiries from internal external or state audit requests.
  • Participate on teams as related to system upgrades, acquisitions, divestitures, and any other project work as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Associates degree in Accounting or Finance (Preferred)

EXPERIENCE

  • 10 Years of relevant experience; Work experience should include previous problem solving for all types of Purchase to Pay (P2P) issues, payment processing, 1099 expertise, and audit support.
  • SAP and/or Oracle payments experience required with expert knowledge of vendor set-up requirements including TIN match, 1099 requirements, foreign vendors, minority reporting requirements and all other matters regarding setting up vendors accurately.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Require above average communication skills as position will communicate with all levels of management, vendors, auditors and government agencies.
  • Good organization and communication skills (verbal & written) and time management.

DECISION MAKING

This is an independent position which requires the understanding and execution of established policies and creative thinking to further develop and improve processes. Problem solving and logical thinking is required to process varying degree of vendor setups. Decisions related to resolution of unique vendor situations to allow for payment while maintaining IRS compliance with regard to federal 1099 laws.

Additional Information

Base salary: $50,000-$70,000

The ultimate compensation offered for the position will depend upon several factors such as skill level, cost of living, experience, and responsibilities.
