Job Description

The Income Tax Accounting Manager is responsible for preparing Vericast’s ASC 740 annual and interim income tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures. The successful candidate is a self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting key deadlines. He/she interfaces with Vericast’s external auditors (EY) and supports executive business and functional leaders with timely and relevant tax modeling.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

•   Tax Provision Accounting. Manages Vericast’s income tax accounting processes including annual and five-year cash and GAAP tax forecasts, quarterly and annual ASC740 income tax provisions, tax-related financial statement disclosures and ASC 450 contingent tax liabilities. Supervises team of four and coordinates data collection from, and deliverables to, wider accounting, finance and treasury operations. Manages and reviews all responses to external auditor requests. 

•   Income Tax Compliance. Assists the Manager, Income Tax Compliance during busy season with staff supervision, preparation and review of complex unitary state income tax returns using OneSource platform. 

•   Process Improvement. Leads/participates in cross-functional improvement teams – e.g., chart of account alignment, financial systems software updates, robotics process automation, merger and acquisition integration, etc. Looked to as an internal expert on using process and technology to constantly standardize, simplify, automate and improve tax-supportive data. 

•   Mergers & Acquisitions. Assists Tax Counsel and SVP Tax with due diligence, structuring and tax modeling of mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and restructuring deal flow.

•   Tax Research & Training. Stays abreast of technical accounting and tax law changes that may impact the provision through daily reading, accounting firm presentations and attendance at National conferences. Prepares internal technical memoranda on tax, tax accounting and related US GAAP issues. Develops and leads training for tax, accounting, IT and other functions that generate tax-sensitive data. 

•   Tax Internal Controls. Manages internal controls over income and indirect tax processes including maintaining narratives and walk-through materials, logging and ensuring errors are remediated, quarterly reporting and responding to inquiries from internal and external audit teams. 

Domestic travel of 5-10%

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent (Required)
  • Master's Degree in Accounting or Tax a plus
  • In lieu of the above education requirements, a combination of experience and education will be considered
  • CPA certification preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • 2-3 years Auditing and preparing income tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures
  • 3-5 years broad federal, state and foreign income tax experience with a mix of public and private practice 
  • Minimum of two seasons preparing and reviewing progressively complex corporate U.S. consolidated and unitary income tax returns with a nationally-recognized public accounting firm
  • Demonstrable experience leading teams, managing budgets/schedules, and realizing process efficiencies
