Job Description

The Vericast Cloud Services/DevOps team is seeking a highly skilled Engineer to help automate, monitor, support, and enhance the OpenStack on-prem cloud infrastructure as well as implement best-practices solutions leveraging configuration management tools.  This role will also support the legacy environment (J2EE; WebSphere) cross-functionally with engineering, product, and IT stakeholders in an Agile framework.  If you're passionate about building automated solutions, Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD code pipelines and implementing DevOps methodologies, then Vericast is a great fit for you!

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with team members on the DevOps team to design and implement cloud solutions that are automated, secure, scalable, and highly available 30%
  • System troubleshooting and problem resolution across various application domains and platforms 20%
  • Collaborate with the development team to identify needs for infrastructure as well as building and deploying their applications 15%
  • Provision of critical system security by leveraging best practices and cloud security solutions 10%
  • Troubleshoot failed builds and deployments 5%
  • Take part in all Agile ceremonies 10%
  • Evaluation of new technology alternatives and vendor products 5%

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ Years with Bachelor’s degree or 11+ years’ work experience

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Solid foundation of cloud computing (preferably OpenStack), networking and Linux administration.
  • Strong understanding of how to secure cloud environments and meet compliance requirements.
  • Issue and bug tracking and wiki documentation (JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow)
  • Containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Infrastructure provisioning (at least one of Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Application monitoring (ELK stack, New Relic, Datadog, etc.)
  • Can write high-quality code in a programming language (e.g. Java, Python, Ruby, Scala, Go) that addresses real-world engineering problems.
  • Software Delivery Lifecycle Process optimization.
  • Source code systems and Gitlab branching strategies.
  • Ability to learn/use a wide variety of open-source technologies and tools
  • Communicate effectively with Scrum masters, Product Managers and Application Developer Leads regarding implementation of best practices and DevOps methodologies.
