Job Description

The Strategic Partnerships and Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic partnerships in support of Valassis’ product roadmap. This position works closely with Valassis leadership on strategic growth initiatives, 3rd party partnerships and alliances.

As Strategic Partnerships and Business Development Manager you will be responsible for sourcing and executing partnerships, data purchase, and other strategic and operational agreements under the supervision of the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships. You will also work closely with the broader Vericast organization including, Product Management, Engineering, Legal and Sales with an understanding of customer needs and exploring potential strategic alliances to support key clients. The role will require the candidate to be self-sufficient, extremely organized, and comfortable presenting concepts and strategic rationale to both senior leadership and external partners.

This role includes external opportunity assessment, intelligence gathering, and analysis of various partnership alternatives to accomplish Valassis Digital objectives. The candidate will manage the entire deal process with external and internal parties with the support of the broader Business Development team. You will be expected to negotiate, coordinate, and manage the legal document development process (including term sheets, LOIs, and definitive agreements) in coordination with the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Understanding customer needs and creating value for multiple parties
  • Communication with both internal teams (sr. execs, sales, analytics, account managers, product management, and engineers,) as well as the customer and partner (which may also include their legal, engineering, and BD teams)
  • Deal execution with the bigger picture in mind
  • Proactive research, identification and execution of new partnerships that bring value add to the business
  • Point of contact for key strategic partners with the goal of advancing opportunities in accordance to the strategic direction of the organization
  • Identify gaps in the Valassis Digital offering and source partnerships that fill those gaps
  • Project management and coordination of partnership team activities within organizations project management software; Monday.com
  • Continual education in industry trends and represent the organization at industry events
  • Travel as needed
  • Owning Contract renewals and negotiations
  • Reporting of program results to the broader organization

Qualifications

  • Experience in Digital Media will help this candidate succeed.
  • 3+years of Contract and Account Management
  • Highly organized and self-directed
  • Project Management experience
