Directly report to the Managing Director East Africa, with a key responsibility to manage all supply chain and logistics flow of the new subsidiary in Kenya while ensuring an optimal market supply through 3PL operated regional warehouses in the East African region for Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and Ethiopia, including inventory control, warehousing, and freight management
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Leadership/Management
- Providing of labor and resource requirements to achieve the above goals.
- Strategic costs and budget responsibility as well as monitoring of corresponding key figures.
- Implementation and development of appropriate management processes including recruitment, training, performance management, incentive schemes and working hours.
- Leading and motivation of staff to deliver high satisfaction of employees, and productivity.
- Regular coordination meetings with sales, finance, controlling teams
- Identify, communicate and implement best practices
- Lead or participate in special tasks and projects at Group level.
- Responsibility for change processes including the focus on customer orientation, transparency regarding costs and services, benchmarking, optimal logistics solutions as well as the optimization of processes and cost structures.
- Maintaining warehouse equipment in proper and safe condition.
- Ensuring an effective communication, internally and externally.
- Performing continuous improvement processes.
Inventory control
- Effective monitoring of inventory and maintaining best product availability.
- Overall responsibility for material master data and purchasing.
Warehousing
- Closely monitor and optimize the external storage in cooperation with the 3rd party warehouse provider
- Ensuring an overall effective flow of goods.
Transport
- Responsibility for efficient performance of freight management, both inbound and outbound.
Health and Safety
- Responsibility for Health and Safety within the logistics management function.
- Compliance of Health and Safety measures for all employees.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in relevant area of study
- Relevant professional qualification and experience in the logistics sector.
- Profound overall understanding and experience of logistics, purchasing and supply chain management processes in general.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a similar position with 2-3 years at management level.
- Experience of process improvement and ability to show evidence of raising standards and implementing successful, innovative business ideas.
- Proven track record of delivering operating results and profit.
- Good understanding of financial matters, budget and forecast
- Analytic mind set to develop strategies and visions; structured, well organized
- Ability to develop and cultivate relationships at various levels, persuasive and emphatic.
- Strong leadership skills; cooperative management styles and communication skills to lead and develop a team.
- Determined and results oriented
- Willingness to travel.
- A good Team player.

Note
- This is a Senior Management role and will require frequent official travel.
