    Job Description

    The Sales Manager will thrive in our fast-paced, start-up business environment. Reporting to the VP of Sales, the Sales Manager will develop and establish relationships across multiple positions and functions between Verb and the customer. This role collaborates closely with the VP of Sales to research, identify, and analyze market segments, opportunities, and trends, developing strategies to capitalize on them effectively.  The Sales Manager will convert and manage revenue-generating accounts over time. Additionally, the position includes administrative responsibilities, such as ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of CRM data, nurturing the top-of-funnel pipeline, and converting marketing leads into sales-qualified leads.  As Verb Biotics is a start-up company, the Sales Manager will wear many hats and is key in supporting the VP of Sales to nurture a positive company culture and achieve commercial success.

    Qualifications

    Lead Generation and Qualification

    • Identify potential clients through research and networking activities.
    • Qualify leads to ensure alignment with our target markets.
    • Support marketing inbound lead generation activities as needed.

    New Business Development and Account Management

    • Deliver revenue and growth targets in accordance with annual sales budget.
    • Nurture qualified leads through outbound engagement and virtual meetings to establish relationships with key decision-makers, offering ingredient solutions to meet specific product formulation needs.
    • Prepare and deliver product presentations and proposals, showcasing the technical benefits and functionality of the ingredients offered.
    • Respond promptly to inbound inquiries from prospective customers.
    • Develop, document, and maintain sufficient customer sales pipeline to close deals and generate revenue.
    • Act as the primary interface between customers and Verb Biotics.
    • Provide feedback to leadership regarding market strategy, lead generation process, product pipeline, and account development/hurdles/risks.
    • Proactively identify and solve complex problems that impact the management, relationship, and direction of the business.
    • Attend trade shows and industry events to generate new leads and gain market insights.
    • Continuously improve comprehensive product knowledge, relevant industry familiarity, and sales techniques to answer the majority of questions posed during typical engagements with prospects and customers.
    • Work closely with R&D and customers for application development.
    • Exhibit a professional demeanor and the ability to establish rapport with prospects, customers, and co-workers.

    Sales Administration

    • Provide sample support to the sales team.
    • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of HubSpot data.
    • Collaborate with Marketing to plan and execute events.
    • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Sales.

    Adhere to company policies and guidelines as described in the Company Employee Handbook.

    Travel up to 30% (+/-) may be required.

    Qualifications and Education

    • 3 - 5 years of experience in sales and/or business development in the dietary supplement industry.
    • Prior experience selling “Biotic” ingredients preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree required, preference for biology, chemistry, nutrition, or food science.

    Demonstrated Skills

    • Sales acumen, proven success selling functional ingredients.
    • Ability to understand and articulate scientific and market information.
    • Excellent oral and written communication.
    • Proficient with MS Office, CRM (HubSpot preferred), LinkedIn, online searches.
    • Proficient negotiation skills.
    • Proficient troubleshooting skills.
