Job Description

Position Purpose: 

Internships at Veolia: Gain hands-on experience in at least one career function from Corporate, Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Operations, Sales, Supply Chain or Technology.

The IT Project Coordinator - Intern primary role is to assist the project managers, subject matter experts (SMEs) and the Director of the Portfolio, Project Methods and Governance (PPM&G) department to plan, execute, track projects according to our project management methodology. The Project Coordinator - Intern prepares PMO related reports such as workforce planning, portfolio reports, KPIs and metrics reports. The team member will be expected to create and update project plans, run scrums for small to medium size projects. We will also expect the person in this role to manage RAID logs and track critical items. Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop small-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Run scrum meetings for small to medium size scrums.
  • Prepare minutes for project management related projects and deliverables.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • With the assistance of senior project managers, estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Assist senior project manager in tracking budget proposals and spend.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team. Manage and track RAID items.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables. Escalate potential delivery no longer on track.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Define and measure project success criteria.
  • Perform retrospectives during the project and lessons learned at the end of his/her project.
  • Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Assist senior project manager and the SMEs in producing KPI’s related reporting.
  • Attend internal training to increase project management knowledge.

Work Environment:

Environments vary by intership function from office to field to plant. Our aim is to provide tangible industry job experience to each intern. While we may extend offers to some interns, there is no guarantee of a job offer at the end of the internship.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Two (2) years of post high school education completed.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Some familiarity with project management skills (process, deliverables).
  • Ability to take a user stories/requirements and decompose it into smaller more manageable tasks.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to research solutions and troubleshoot middle to complex problems.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
