Job Description

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the revenue-generating assets, which include state-of-the-art membrane coating equipment, continuous web handling lines, extruders, automated assembly and packaging lines, and various other manufacturing equipment and support systems. They’ll be the first line of defense for any type of equipment issues. In addition, they could be cross-trained to run equipment within the department. 

This will require knowledge of mechanics, metal properties, shop mathematics, industrial electricity, and troubleshooting equipment. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Proactively communicate and address safety concerns
  • May set up, operate, and clean production equipment
  • Perform troubleshooting to identify and correct the root cause of malfunction to minimize scrap
  • Follow all life-critical policies and procedures (Lock-out/Tag-Out, Confined Space Entry, Line-Break)
  • May participate in and optimize changeovers in the production process
  • Observe and comply with all OSHA and company Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, including housekeeping practices and participation in EHS meetings, investigations, and audits
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance following job plans, diagrams/schematics, manufacturer recommendations, and engineering specifications
  • Proactive machine monitoring to help identify and implement reliability improvements
  • Complete all planned and reactive work orders and document findings, actions, and feedback
  • ID sources of problems through observation and use of precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Determine wear of parts by inspection using calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and other measuring instruments
  • Adjust functional parts or devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, straight edges, multimeters, etc
  • Fabricate parts used in repairs using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
  • Perform troubleshooting on PLC, and control circuits
  • Utilize CMMS (Maximo) to document unscheduled, scheduled, and completed work
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to peers and management
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal customers and manufacturing teams.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

    Required

    • High School Diploma OR GED
    • 3 years’ experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment, including maintenance procedures and methods
    • Team player and contributor; share knowledge and absorb knowledge from others, including constructive feedback
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Strong computer skills in Google Suite applications and CMMS (preferably Maximo) experience
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently on a backlog of open PM/CM tasks
    • Ability to identify critical spare parts and place orders for required materials

    Preferred

    • Technical or vocational college degree in the Industrial Maintenance field (electronics, robotics, PLC, machining, etc.)

    Working Conditions:

    • 1st shift, rotating 12-hour shifts 6am - 6pm
    • The use of machine shop instrumentation and equipment like hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, straight edges, multimeters, etc.
    • May be on call during the week or on the weekends to support the manufacturing departments

    Compensation:
    The hourly rate of $23.00 - $28.00 USD is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. This role includes an additional $2 per hour for a 12-hour shift working a 2 - 2 - 3 schedule
