Job Description
Position Purpose:
The Payroll Tax Specialist provides Payroll/Tax support to all Veolia North America by processing transactions and answering Tax and Payroll questions. Responsibilities may include: backup role in payroll processing for Salary, Hourly, Union, In/Ex-Pat employees, payroll tax setup, and maintain the integrity of HR/Benefit/Payroll data. This position will keep informed about changes in Federal and State laws as they pertain to payroll and tax processing, will also work with the other SSC members, and interact with Directors, Managers and HR team members on project work.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains and ensures the integrity and confidentiality of all employee files.
- Ensures the integrity of all HRIS records including employee information, reporting relationships, position codes, etc.
- Answers questions and provides Payroll Tax issue resolution for all Veolia North American employees utilizing a case management system.
- Weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing assistance for tax related items.
- Payroll entry for employee tax adjustments.
- Perform regular employee level audits to confirm accurate tax setup and withholding.
- Cross-trains and serves as backup for others in the department as necessary.
- Ensure on-going SOX compliance.
- Process information requests from various government agencies.
- Assist with maintenance of all payroll tax documents and processes.
- Setup of new accounts with tax agencies and payroll vendor.
- Ensure accuracy with payroll vendors for jurisdiction configuration.
- Ensure compliance with all federal state and local Payroll tax regulations.
- Multiple worksite reporting.
- Process jurisdiction payments that fall outside of payroll provider responsibilities.
- Testing of tax configuration within the payroll system.
- Work with 3rd party vendors for all payroll and W2 related items for InPat/ExPat employees. Accurate and timely entry of these items into the payroll system & validation back to vendors.

Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
- High school education or G.E.D. required.
- Minimum of three (3) years directly related experience in Payroll Administration desired with thorough knowledge of departmental functions, procedures, terminology and interrelationships:
- Experience with Human Capital Management (HCM) systems is required, specifically Workday. Additional experience with complementary systems such as ADP Smart Compliance.
- Shared Services Center experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to execute tasks with supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive data.
- Ability to research payroll and time related matters.
- Excellent organization and time management skills to handle multiple tasks in an environment with large volumes of data and online documents. Significant attention to detail required.
- Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness.
- Ability to evaluate data and effectively present findings to management within the department.
- Using Google Suite to develop spreadsheets and modify formats in order to complete assignments and ability to recommend improvements.
- Must demonstrate effective oral communication skills with good vocabulary, good grammar and a passion for excellence in Customer Service.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, as well as external suppliers and organizations.
- Excellent command of English language required. Fluency in Spanish or French desired.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- Payroll FPC - Fundamental Payroll Certification designation preferred, but not required.
