Indirect Procurement Transformation Director
Europe
Remote OR hybrid depending on the preferences of the country in which you are based.


Veolia Water Tech is seeking a Director of Indirect Procurement Transformation to lead the transformation and cost reduction initiatives related to the external spend across operations and functions. 

The Director of Indirect Procurement Transformation will serve as a change management leader, championing Indirect Procurement Initiatives to ensure the delivery of cost reductions targets while optimizing the operations with the goal of buying in a more smart and sustainable way. 

The Director of Indirect Procurement Transformation is a pivotal role in the organization and he/she will influence and drive initiatives across regional Indirect Procurement organizations by providing expert guidance, identifying new opportunities, steering transformation efforts, and developing solutions across all functions. 

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Indirect Procurement Category Management, the core responsibilities of the incumbent include:

Transformation: 

  • Lead the Indirect Procurement Initiatives scope, monitor progress, identify gaps against targets,  implement mitigation actions, and drive the creation of new initiatives across the indirect procurement team and broader functions. As a transformation leader, he/she will find solutions to problems and roadblocks identified by other initiative owners.

Strategic Sourcing: Provide coaching and mentoring to the Indirect Procurement organization, including:

  • Enable the creation and implementation of Sourcing Strategies and best-in-class procurement methodologies to guarantee sustainable financial outcomes,
  • Develop and promote a “Buy Better” mindset, with a particular focus on building relevant category strategies for the top spend areas, with emphasis on preferred supplier utilization, vendor rationalization, and in-source vs. outsource decisions, while maintaining a laser focus on improving service levels with suppliers,
  • Support “Spend Smarter” actions targeting demand management and leveraging proactive budget analysis to influence purchasing behavior across functions,
  • Provide guidance to assess and evaluate the feasibility of new cost reduction initiatives, collaborating closely with the Category Management organization to build robust business cases.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Change Management:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams from across the organisation’s, including IT, Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Legal, Sales Marketing and Communications, to optimize external spend through the adoption of best procurement practices,
  • Act as a change agent, leading  the implementation of best practices and ensuring stakeholders are informed, trained, and effectively onboarded.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in Procurement and large-scale Transformation projects  within a global company,
  • Strong experience in Category Management, preferably across Indirect Procurement categories, such as IT, Temporary Labor, Travel, Corporate Services, Fleet, Transportation and Logistics, and MRO.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a proven capacity to influence and engage senior C-Level  stakeholders across different functions.

Education/Certifications:

  • A degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. or time served experience
