Job Description
The Facility Controller is responsible for overseeing financial processes related to facility accounting, ensuring compliance with financial policies, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role involves tracking facility costs, preparing financial reports, supporting audits, and assisting facility managers in financial planning and analysis. The Facility Controller will work closely with various departments to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financials related to the Energy-from-Waste (EfW) facility. The Facility Controller will have a dotted line reporting structure to the corporate finance director to ensure company continuity.
Main Responsibilities:
- Facility Financial Management:
- Track, monitor, and analyze facility budgets, costs, and financial performance.
- Assist facility managers with financial planning and budget forecasting.
- Ensure proper allocation of costs to facility operations and compliance with internal financial policies
- Accounting & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate financial records for the facility.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Perform account reconciliations and variance analyses.
- Ensure adherence to Accounting Standards
- Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in audit processes by providing required documentation and financial schedules.
- Identify areas for process improvement and propose recommendations.
- Invoice & Payment Processing:
- Review and process vendor invoices, facility-related expenses, and contract payments.
- Work closely with the accounts payable team to ensure timely and accurate payments.
- Monitor billing schedules and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Serve as a liaison between finance and facility management teams.
- Support cross-functional teams with financial insights and recommendations.
- Provide training and support to facility managers on financial processes and best practices.
- Other Duties:
- Support in various facility budget calculations, monitoring, and supervision.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.
- Assist with financial system upgrades and improvements.
- Any other tasks assigned by the Finance Manager, or Facility Manager.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facility accounting, financial analysis, or a similar role.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume professional environment is preferred.
- Experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is an asset.
- Training in financial systems and facility accounting methodologies is an asset.
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification (preferred but not required).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Google Suite and industry standard office equipment.
- MS Excel proficiency mandatory
- Account Reconciliation experience and strong analytical skills is a must
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling)
- Experience working with SAP
- Knowledge of understanding contract requirements
Work Environment:
Permanent position, offered on a full-time basis. 100% of time will be spent in office.
Salary: $80,000-$90,000/year + eligible for company annual bonus program
