Position overview:
As part of the Electrical, Instrumentation Controls (EI&C) Engineering team, you will work collaboratively with a cross-functional engineering team executing custom project designs, meeting customer expectations, quality, schedule, budget, goals, and ensuring project risks are mitigated.


The individual chosen for this role will be involved in the Process Control Design, Programming and related EI&C activities for a wide range of water technologies, including developing control documentation, programming, supporting network design, and assisting through commissioning as projects move through execution. The individual will also be responsible for supporting on-site testing of water treatment systems at our Ancaster and Guelph facilities as required.

Nature of work:
In this role, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Collaborate in cross-functional project team discussions and client meetings.
  • Read and process engineering documents, including P&IDs, GAs, process design. guidelines, Electrical Schematics, I/O Lists, instrument and valve lists, Network Architecture, return of experience, and engineering best practices guides.
  • Interpret, comment, and follow contract and customer specifications.
  • Design the complete detailed control logic for plant operation (Control Philosophy, Control Logic & Sequence Charts) with operator and equipment safety in mind.
  • Manage budget, scope and schedule and proactively report risks and opportunities to project teams.
  • Support production and testing of Water Treatment systems in Veolia manufacturing facilities as required

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Process Engineering (or equivalent)
  • At least four (4) years of experience with control systems of Rockwell Schneider and/or Siemens PLC, HMI, DCS and/or SCADA design and programming.
  • Automation testing experience (simulation and/or field environment): I/O modules, PID controllers, VFDs configuration and Network communications: EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, provide reports and support internal and external customers.
  • Valid passport and driver’s license.
  • Availability to travel up to 30% per year (USA & Canada). For customer meetings, training, and equipment startup support
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely with project teams


Preferred skills or abilities:

  • Understanding of Low Voltage Power Distribution electrical design.
  • Technical knowledge in industrial control systems.
  • Understanding of hydraulics and fundamentals of fluid mechanics.
  • Teamwork spirit and good interpersonal relations oriented
