Job Description

The successful candidate for the Researcher role will be part of our Wastewater Intensification processes department. This position will be positioned in the Applications & Systems (A&S) team located in Canada, Oakville, ON. Shape the global future of wastewater treatment solutions by developing new generation intensification processes around Veolia’s core technologies.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Join the Biology R&D team to support and contribute to technical assistance and innovation programs such as our new generation of wastewater intensification processes with MBR (ZeeWeedTM) and MABR (ZeeLungTM) such as, but not limited to: zeeDENSETM, memDENSETM, ZeeNAMMOXTM…

  • Follow-up of Premieres references and contributions to REX in collaboration with the Technology team of scientists and R&D Programs/Projects Leads. Validate data, structure and consolidate REX from our innovations references with end-users (O&M), process engineers, consultants around new generations of WW intensification processes (current and future)

  • Collaborate with R&D experts & scientists of the Technology group in the field of wastewater treatment around our core MBR and MABR applications

  • Contribute to the develop of new wastewater intensification solutions around Veolia’s core water technologies to launch and actively participare to new research programs (bio-processes, flowsheets, applications, products

Qualifications

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering  with focus in Water, Environmental  Sciences, or related disciplines Advanced degree ( Master or  PhD/Post Doctoral) preferred.

  • 1 to 5 years industry experience OR 3 to 8 years of academic experience in wastewater treatment, research project management, process design or related fields. Experience with biology and/or membrane technology (MBR, MABR) is a plus. 

  • degree in Water & Environmental Engineering, Sciences.  in Water & Environment discipline

Working Conditions (Specify % of travel involved if applicable, physical conditions, interaction with any hazardous material, work environment, etc.) 

  • A Hybrid schedule of weekly office and remote work is possible based on profile/experience

  • 20% Travel to customer sites, conferences: adjustable as per the company needs and the eventual constraints of the candidate

  • home office as per VWTS Canada policy (2 days/week)

Additional Information

Other Useful Skills and Experience:

  • experience with project management (research, engineering, consulting, operations)

  • experience with biological process simulators, such as BioWin, SIMBA, SUMO, and/or GPS-X

  • Savvy in problem solving in wastewater treatment via technology/process development

  • Autonomy, team player

  • Good command of English and technical communication skills (French is a plus)
