Job Description

Under the supervision of the Engineering director or Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Dept Manager will have 2 main responsibilities:

1/ As Mechanical Dept manager, he organizes the work of the mechanical team and develops the mechanical and piping design of water or waste water treatment plants in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes and standards and company procedures.

His/her main responsibilities/tasks are as follows:

  • Arrange the workload of the different team members
  • Ensure compliance with department procedure and quality of the produced documents.
  • Analysis of the project specifications and codes requirements
  • Review the mechanical engineering documents prepared by the team
  • Preparation of the mechanical and piping design when required
  • Definition of the mechanical and piping specifications to be used for drafting and supplier inquiries
  •  Supervise draftsmen work and mechanical engineer work

 

2/ As Engineering project manager, he coordinates the different engineering disciplines working on a specific project, ensure interface with the project manager and monitor/control the allocated man-hours for engineering of the project

  • Supervises the issue of engineering deliverables and approves the key engineering documents;
  • Ensures effective interdisciplinary coordination in particular through weekly meetings. Takes the necessary technical decisions in case of unresolved conflicts between disciplines. Controls that the engineering team properly interfaces with other project members;
  •  Ensures that engineering deliverables are submitted on time
  • Ensures effective technical coordination with Client's representatives and as such participates to good communication with Client;
  • Follow-up engineering budget and controls it during the course of the project. Alerts the Project Management in case of variation and suggests if needed mitigation measures;
  •  Initiates Value engineering and best practice;


 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 15 years of  experience in mechanical engineering
  • Preferable Experience in water or wastewater projects
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standard (Power, Oil&Gaz)
  • Able to design independently, with minor instructions from head of department
  • Capable of supervisory capacity for planning and organizing,
  • Able to lead a small team;
  • On site practical experience is an advantage
  • Fluent in English/ Arabic language is a plus
  • Mastering relevant needed applications technologies.
