SIDEM (Societe Internationale de Dessalement d'Eau de Mer), one subsidiary of Veolia Water, acting mainly in the Middle-East, has developed several desalination solutions matching all types of requirements over the past 50 years. Thanks to its strong and permanent in-house research & development SIDEM has been able to provide state of the art large desalination plants on a turnkey projects basis.
Job Description
Context
SIDEM has been awarded a project for the production of potable water and process water based on the Reverse Osmosis (RO) Technology to be executed starting in 2023. It includes seawater pre-treatment , 2 stages Reverse Osmosis, post- treatment to potabilize the water, electrical distribution system, instrument and control system, with process buildings as a full turnkey project, starting from a green field.
For the selected candidate, it will be the opportunity to work in a challenging technical and international and multicultural environment with professional engineers in many disciplines on large magnitude projects with short delivery time for a desalination business with high technical skills.
Main Responsibilities and possible scopes of work according to applicant profiles:
The Civil Construction Engineer will be responsible for:
- Managing the planning and design stages of construction projects.
- Contributing technical expertise to project drawings and designs.
- Preparing method statements and work schedules in collaboration with the construction and project control manager.
- Verifying proper delivery, inventory of material and resources for erection work execution within his scope of work
- Supervising execution of civil works according to area of work and scope of work assignments
- Overseeing construction processes by liaising between contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Coordination with QA/QC teams for tests on materials and procedures to ensure compliance with Contract, Project specifications, Suppliers and Company Inspection and Test Plan and Industry regulations.
- Ensuring that the construction project is completed on time and within budget.
- Documenting processes and keeping detailed construction logs.
- Presenting construction project progress updates to managers and Clients.
- Clearing of punch items, non conformances, defects by implementation of efficient and economical remedies in line with Project specifications
Qualifications
Educational background: Professional engineer in Civil Engineering
Experience : Water field experience, or energy or plant civil construction
Skills: organised, rigorous, technically skilled, autonomous, willing to learn
Language: Fluency in English is a must, Arabic is a plus
