MAGMA Waste Treatment Services will operate and maintain two industrial Waste Treatment Facilities (IWTF) in Ruwais (Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates) with around 200 employees.
The Hazardous Waste Treatment Facility (HWTF or BeAAT) includes TDU, deoiling tricanter, Stabilization, Class I and II landfill, PCT, mercury treatment unit, and Incineration lines with a capacity around 60 KTA;
The Natural Occurring Radioactive Materials Treatment Facility (NORM) is a new 6,5 KTA decontamination facility, including a high pressure water descaling system, incineration and encapsulation of ashes.
Job Description
As a Maintenance Planning Engineer, the ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of all equipment, machinery, and facilities within the hazardous waste treatment plant. You will work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that maintenance activities are carried out as planned, safely and in accordance with plant procedures and regulations.
This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance plan for the plant's equipment and facilities, taking into account the plant's operating environment and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and manage a preventive maintenance program for critical equipment, including scheduling routine inspections, lubrication, and replacement of worn parts.
- Oversee the maintenance of all equipment, including pumps, valves, compressors, boilers, and other machinery used in the waste treatment process.
- Plan and coordinate major repair and maintenance projects, including equipment replacement and upgrades.
- Ensure that all maintenance work is carried out safely and in accordance with plant procedures and regulations.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of spare parts and supplies to support maintenance activities.
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and potential problems, and develop strategies to address them.
- Develop and maintain relationships with equipment suppliers and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs and maintenance.
- Collaborate with other plant departments to ensure that maintenance activities do not disrupt plant operations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment performance data, maintenance schedules, and repair history.
- Participate in plant safety and environmental programs, including incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory requirements related to hazardous waste treatment plants.
- Ensure contractual, ethical and statutory compliance in their activities
- Foster collaborative long-term working relationships with the facilities’ management and staff.
- Apply all relevant HSE measures in line with regulations and Veolia policy
- Ensure the safety of staff working under her/his supervision
Qualifications
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in maintenance planning and management in a hazardous waste treatment plant or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance principles and practices, and regulatory requirements related to hazardous waste treatment plants.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance management software.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a hazardous waste treatment plant environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform tasks that require physical exertion, such as climbing ladders and lifting heavy equipment.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators and chemical-resistant clothing.
- Good knowledge of oral and written English. Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
- Willing and able to be based full-time in Al Ruwais, Abu Dhabi
- Willing to work in a 24/7 operations environment - Shift Basis schedule apply (6 days on - 6 days off; 12h/day)
