Job Description

As a Chit Chats Branch Floater, you deliver a delightful experience to clients in our branches. You are the first line of defense for compliance adherence, and always do your best to ensure shipments comply with customs laws - our business depends on it! Your process and sort shipments meticulously and are highly proficient in navigating our platform. You are always looking for more efficient, cost-effective ways of getting things done while keeping in line with our strategic anchors and values.

You work primarily out of our Calgary North East location but are available to work out of our various locations in Alberta as required.

Responsibilities to Clients

  • Greet customers while representing Chit Chats’ brand and values.
  • Interacts and develops a positive rapport with customers and represents the company in a professional manner while taking every opportunity to build our business
  • Responsible for the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the branch
  • Some receptions and administrative duties and the ability to handle all customer inquiries via telephone, email and face to face
  • Offer consultative service, answer questions and make product and service recommendations.
  • Process shipments meticulously including scanning, sorting and loading onto skids.
  • Take inventory and place orders for supplies.
  • Maintain incoming and outgoing client returns.
  • Ensure the compliance of shipments and reviews are completed thoroughly and accurately
  • Responsible for educating clients on shipment compliance needs (Canadian, US, Internationally re: restrictions, weight, dims, packaging
  • Ensure batch accuracy during processing and uses the appropriate indicators for batch identification
  • Responsible for complete BOL- should be true and accurate
  • Must possess the ability to provide proper and appropriate documentation/escalation of shipment and client challenges or inquires
  • Ensure shipment processing and compliance reviews are completed within a timely manner
  • Must support Drivers with loading and unloading freight.
  • Perform fulfillment tasks as needed (picking, packing, shipping, charging etc.) from within the Branch.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.

Back Up Driver (on-call as needed basis).

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport client shipments on time
  • Safely operate company vehicles
  • Conduct inspection of vehicles for mechanical operation and/or safety issues 
  • Review and Report daily/weekly/Monthly maintenance
  • Immediately report defects/safety issues/maintenance needs, accidents or violations
  • Document and log work/rest periods in accordance with regulatory requirements and/or company policies.
  • Vehicles must be kept in a clean manner at all times, garbage and personal belongings must be removed at the end of each shift
  • Ability to drive 3 ton and 5 ton trucks based on operational needs
  • Comply with laws/ regulations as well as with company policies and procedures
  • Load and unload vehicles as required
  • Collect and verify delivery instructions and shipment manifest 
  • Collect all supplies/returns and verify against daily route to ensure deliveries are made
  • Ensure pick up and delivery are done timely and efficient manner
  • Communicate delays with the dispatch officer in a timely manner
  • Use Chit Chats platform and other technology deemed necessary by the company to complete the trip (i.e scan client batches, scan return batches).
  • Work with supporting departments, such as compliance, branch staff,& warehouse staff  in order to successfully complete trips.
  • Support branch staff with scanning and sorting for EOD departures. 

Responsibilities to Team

  • Open and close branches when needed.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid drivers license and maintain it during the course of employment 
  • Minimum three years commercial experience driving  
  • Clean CVOR (must report any major infractions at time of hire).
  • Working  knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
  • Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, mechanical failure, weather conditions, etc.)
  • Capacity for rapport and relationship building with supporting departments, partners and Border Officials 
  • Willing to submit to background/drug checks as required and provide employment recommendations
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
