Job Description

Under the direction of the Operations Excellence Manager, the Operational Excellence Lead is responsible to support branches, warehouse, and fleet departments via developing a comprehensive operations plan and applying process optimization and lean techniques to achieve productivity and enable operation cost savings.

  1. Evaluate opportunities in addressing an increasingly complex logistics network.

  2. Support operations and regional managers to mitigate risks, enabling cost savings, and cultivating relationships that align with company values.

  3. Implement and stabilize new operations practices.

  4. Facilitates the communication between operations teams and the business development department.

  5. Process all returns are being processed by this resource.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management

  • Support Operations Excellence Manager to ensure alignment of operational excellence goals and project progression

  • Lead an analytical team in developing, documenting, and implementing policies, processes, procedures, and changes

  • Collaborate with Regional Leads and other heads of departments to develop and implement continuous improvement culture

  • Act as a key department stakeholder in collaboration with other key stakeholders during inter-departmental strategic meetings operations changes, and planning

Continues Improvement and Planning

  • Implement LEAN principles and continuous improvement methodologies to Identify and execute practical operational improvement opportunities

  • Implement new technologies to monitor logistics, analytics, reporting, performance of the system and the team

  • Support  to establish standards procedures and key performance indicators for tracking departmental performance and define required corrective actions

  • Support Operations Excellence Manager to develop maintenance planning of fleet and related equipment and ensure all operating fleet vehicles meet the efficiency requirements. (scheduling of Drivers, setting up routes on a weekly basis)

  • Manage relationships across all the courier, last-mile, LTL, and TL partnerships in U.S. and Canada.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant experience and/or educational background in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management

  • Analytical experience in dispatching, resource optimization, coordination, and planning to meet client needs and reduce operational expenses

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrable ability to lead a small team

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects in a dynamic fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

  • Agile; willing and able to “roll up the sleeves” to support warehouse and branches in case it is required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally.

  • Project management skills and able to forge constructive relationships and maintain credibility internally and with external business partners

  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

  • Lean certificate is an asset

  • Flexible work schedule availability

  • Ability to occasionally travel within Western Canada (B.C. and Alberta)
