Job Description

The Role

 

As Regional Manager, you’re responsible for providing leadership, direction and support to Chit Chats branch managers and drop spots within your region. You provide oversight of the stores in your region to be in line with the business strategy and company culture to achieve organization goals. You plan and drive operations to ensure results are consistent with compliance policies and the overall strategic direction for the organization. You play a key role in protecting the bottom line by owning the hiring, development and retention of talent and managing your broader teams’ performance.

 

You work closely with Branch Managers and collaborate with Fleet, Operations, Communications and Leadership to provide the support, training and optimizations needed to align your region with Chit Chats’ vision and goals.

 

Responsibilities to Clients and Partners

  • Serve as the ultimate subject matter expert on shipping related information. You are the voice and ear for clients across your region. Report trends and feedback to leadership. You are accountable for your region’s Google reviews. 

  • Review, investigate and resolve client escalations by working across teams to find a suitable solution within service levels. Accountable for all branch investigations in your region.

Responsibilities to Team

  • Ensure optimal team health and performance in your region. Collaborate with your branch managers on hiring, training, onboarding and exit processes. Work closely to maintain high employee engagement, retention, performance, and address staff-related concerns.

  • Accountable for your branch leads’ performance. Review and monitor the performance of branch leads in your region. Provide coaching, feedback and recognition in real-time, through monthly 1:1’s, quality assurance reviews and quarterly performance reviews. 

  • Partner with your peers in other regions to share best practices. Contribute to the ever-changing knowledge base and provide on-going training and workshops to your team.

  • Enforce compliance of maintenance, upkeep, cleanliness, appearance and safety of all facilities and vehicles in your region. Ensure all branches comply with health and safety standards, labour laws and all company policies.

  • Over-communicate values, vision and mission with your team, connect team and individual goals and how they relate to overall company direction. 

  • Additional tasks and projects which may be assigned from time to time.

Responsibilities to Leadership

  • Expenses/budget: Accountable for your region’s expenses, following protocol and headcount. Oversee the inventory and sales of business supplies and shipping supplies, returns.

  • Cascading up/down communication: Complete daily check-in updates. Maintain open communication lines between leadership, branch managers and teams to ensure alignment and timely delivery of goals, projects and reports. 

  • Gather trends from all branches, outline potential issues impacting our clients. Make recommendations to improve Chit Chats processes and operations, improve service and balance client satisfaction with our strategic anchors. 

  • Generate and compile monthly reports such as scheduling, investigation and escalation logs, shipment turnarounds for your region.

 

Qualifications

  • Experienced in coaching and developing people and teams.

  • Ability to build effective cross-functional partnerships using strong collaboration and interpersonal skills 

  • Excel in a fast paced environment and demonstrate effective time management

  • Proven ability to problem solve. Independent thinker who can plan for and respond quickly to unforeseen circumstances

  • Proficient in standard business office software and able to compile and review reports to see trends and make recommendations. 

  • Able to manage the implementation of strategies from leadership, measure impact and recommend improvements to achieve collective objectives

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Some travel within Canada is required, regular travel within the province is required

 

Education and Experience

  • College or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and/or Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years industry experience.
