Job Description

We are sourcing for a Ruby on Rails Developer who will write server-side web application logic in Ruby, around the framework Rails and develop back-end components, connect the application with other web services, and support the front-end developers by integrating their work with the application. You’ll be working alongside other engineers, Business Analyst and Software Testers, collaborating on the various layers of the infrastructure and contributing at the different stages of the SDLC to develop world-class technology solutions.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Participate in every stage of feature development from design and brainstorming through feature implementation, including fixing that last critical bug under a tight release deadline.
  • Work as part of a dynamic team collaborating closely with other developers, developers’ teams and product marketing.
  • Review requirements and provide input.
  • Create functional specifications and designs.
  • Implement major features from scratch.
  • Create unit tests for features.
  • Work with QA to ensure the quality of the feature.
  • Contribute to design & overall product architecture.
     

Qualifications

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, along with other common libraries such as RSpec and Resque.
  • Good understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Good understanding of server-side templating languages.
  • Good understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors.
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Familiarity with concepts of MVC, Mocking, ORM, and RESTful.
  • A knack for writing clean, readable Ruby code.
  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system.
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
  • Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes.
  • Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools {{e.g. Git}
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous development/deployment (e.g. Capistrano).
Requirements:
  • First Degree in Computer science, mathematics or any related science discipline;
  • Good understanding of OOP and good knowledge of the JavaScript framework.
  • Excellent Presentation skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent collaborative skill.
  • Attention to detail; 
  • Comfortable working in a loosely structured organization
  • Highly professional, with the ability to deliver solid work on tight schedules
