Job Description
As a Solution Architect at Vention…
you will be responsible for the architecture and design of the customized equipment and machines created on Vention’s platform. Working with Robotics Sales Managers and Application Engineers, you will determine the optimal technical solution by participating in the discovery and design phase of the pre-sale’s projects. You will coach and support application engineers and review their design work. Your domain expertise in hardware, automation and robotics will elevate the growing team’s technical knowledge and enable you to identify training opportunities for them.
You will be responsible for the presale scope validation process to ensure that our clients are set-up for success with their applications project in close conjunction with Project Managers. Working with the product and Product Line Management departments, you will develop assets to accelerate the decision process and minimize the risks of the projects
In your role, you will maintain strong relationships with Sales, Product Line Management and MachineLogic Product teams to provide feedback from the field to help prioritize the roadmap and contribute to the Go To Market strategy.
You will be involved in the promotion of Vention’s offering by taking an active part in opportunity discovery and design review phases as well as participate and create material for trade shows, webinars and other marketing activities.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the technical scoping phase with external and internal stakeholders
- Design the high-level architecture of the concept and evaluate the cost of the solution
- Design the machine workflows to ensure seamless alignment with the client’s expectations
- Design the high-level control architecture of complex systems
- Ensure that solutions comply with industry standards, regulations, and security best practices
- Help qualify projects and support the sales team with project feasibility checks
- Help the Application Engineers in selecting the adequate third-party equipment and designing RFQs
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges throughout the sales lifecycle
- Develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate technical decisions
- Support the deployment of machines and after sales activities
- Travel to Client’s site (up to 2x per quarter)
- Coach Application Engineers during the discovery phase of the projects to capture all the required technical information to design a winning architecture
- Mentor Application Engineers and contribute to the development of their technical skills and knowledge
- Run brainstorming sessions and technical post-mortems
- Collaborate with our enablement team to prepare and deliver training sessions to engineers
- Put in place references, standards, work methods and best practices
- Radiate the Application Engineering team’s needs in the product roadmap and contribute to the development of applications

You’ll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in application engineering, automation, or robotics.
- In your previous or current role, your peers look to you for mentorship and support
- OIQ engineer permit certification is an asset
- You have a take charge attitude with a solution-oriented mindset
- You have demonstrated a strong desire to share your knowledge and elevate your colleagues
- You thrive in fast-paced environments which requires to handle multiple projects simultaneously
