Job Description

As Director you will be responsible for all aspects of reliability and certification at Vention. Working closely with the engineering teams you will develop and ensure compliance with Vention reliability standards, both in terms of new product development, but also with existing products manufactured at suppliers. More specifically, you role will include:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive reliability and quality strategy that aligns with the company product development effort and general quality improvement initiatives
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of reliability engineers and quality assurance professionals
  • Act as the main reliability and quality stakeholder in design review as part of Vention product development process, and approve/disapprove progress to next gate
  • Review and approve reliability and functional test plans as part of Vention’s product development process
  • Manage the engineering laboratory, maintain test equipment and develop standardized test protocols across Vention’s portfolio of products
  • Develop internal capabilities, including MTBF modeling, accelerated life test protocol, etc. 
  • Drive all new product certification, working with 3rd party agencies
  • Lead root cause analysis for various client support situations
  • Drive the product quality and reliability feedback loop, working closely with clients, customer success team and delivery team
  • Work with global supplier base to ensure compliance to Vention quality requirements
  • Develop and document Vention’s reliability and quality practices & protocols
  • Execute reliability and validation tests as needed by ongoing product development program
  • Work with product, operations and finance to establish product warranty and related provisions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and prioritize reliability and quality focus areas

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering with relevant experience in reliability engineering
  • 5+ year experience in printed circuit boards design for industrial-grade products
  • 10+ years experience in electronics reliability in context of industrial products
  • Strong knowledge of certification processes for electrical products (i.e., UL, CSA, CE, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of reliability engineering principles, including FMEA, root cause analysis, MTBF and L10 calculation and reliability growth testing methods
  • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt and build processes from the ground up.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience building and managing teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across all levels of the organization.
