Job Description

Join the ranks of our awesome Hardware team at Vention to build the future of industrial automation! As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of new core automation products, as well as the maintenance of our existing solutions. In this role, your responsibilities will cover early conceptual design and rapid prototyping up to fully functional and tested products deployed in the field. Responsibilities

Reporting to the Automation Hardware Team Lead, your goal will be to help support the growth of Vention’s Manufacturing Automation Platform. More specifically you will:

  • Actively contribute to the product roadmap and participate in all product development phases, such as: scoping, design, validation, product integration, and product launch.
  • Work with different multidisciplinary teams to develop electronic and electro-mechanical products.
  • Collaborate with program managers to create project schedules and gather product requirements.
  • Build fast prototypes to demonstrate concepts using new technologies.
  • Create schematics and design electrical circuits and systems, develop different levels of prototypes throughout the new product development cycle, implement and generate documentation for Vention’s automation products.
  • Perform validation testing and support certification of the products.
  • Support production change orders related to Automation components (update BOMs, drawings, manufacturing instructions, etc…).
  • Work with Vention's global supplier and manufacturer base to source components and set up component manufacturing contracts.
  • Work with OEM partners to integrate key components from their portfolio inside Vention’s modular automation library
  • Participate and support RMA and field issues investigation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5-10 years of electronics design in a product development environment
  • Track record of product development, interfacing with various functions under tight deadlines
  • Pertinent knowledge and experience in the following fields:
  • Hardware:
    • Electronics, schematics & PCB design, component selection, BOM management, prototype testing and debugging
    • Electronics design software such as Cadence OrCAD, Altium Designer, Eagle
    • Electrical and electronic system assembly for prototyping and test purposes
    • PCB and harness troubleshooting/debugging
    • Mechatronics and motion control
  • Firmware/Software:
    • Python, C, C++
    • STM32 microcontrollers, ARM-Cortex microcontrollers
    • Embedded system deployment on Linux platforms
