Job Description

As part of its growth, Vention wants to build a world class engineering laboratory. As a member of the engineering team, your principal role will be to manage, implement and enforce policies within the laboratory area. But also assist various engineering teams in their projects by designing, building and conducting tests on different products. As needed, you will be part of designing complex test set-up using mechanical, electrical and different control and acquisition strategies.  

What you will be doing:

On product development:

  • Supporting different teams in setting up and running their tests, building prototypes and running different types of tests. 
  • Work with different multidisciplinary teams to develop mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and electro-mechanical test set-up. Design test benches and select test equipment.
  • Run performance and validation tests of different types of products, including: structural components, mechanical actuators, electronics and automation products.
  • Support colleagues in auxiliary tasks when necessary.
  • Depending on your specialty, participate in the development of new products. 

On laboratory management:

  • Organize the laboratory work space to ensure it is well-organized and efficient. As well as manage requests from different teams.
  • Implement and maintain 5S rules, keeping areas clean at all times.
  • Manage the equipment part of the laboratory. Planning and maintaining inventory of important assets; such as robots, different controllers and data acquisition systems.
  • Ensure health and safety rules are deployed and respected in the laboratory. 
  • Manage reception, expedition and storage of goods in the laboratory space.
  • Build inventory for electronic components and maintain it    

Qualifications

  • Technician in Electrical, Electronics, Electromechanical, Mechanical or Robotics (DEP or DEC).
  • Experience working in engineering laboratories, where performance and reliability test are made.
  • Experience is setting up tests, control and data acquisition.
  • Experience with programming languages such Python and LabView.
  • Experience with Arduino microcontroller boards
  • Work experience in multidisciplinary design projects.
  • Experienced user of Solidworks, CAD.
  • Knowledge in electromechanical and pneumatic equipment (sensors, motors, cylinders, etc.) an asset.
  • Familiarity with programming robots such as UR, Fanuc, Doosan an asset.
  • Forklift permits, an asset.
  • Self driven, strong capacity to identify need for improvements, develop and deploy solutions 
  • Recognized for their leadership and capacity to execute, work in teams with strong analysis skill and rigor.
  • Able to communicate verbally and in writing with ease in French and English.
