As Vention's Mechanical Hardware Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of mechanical engineers developing productized-industrial automation products and applications. You will bring deep technical expertise on new product development in industrial automation, combined with a proven track record of leading engineering teams. More specifically you will:

• Lead a team of mechanical engineers and technicians, set the direction and drumbeat of the team, efficiently assigning resources to the different projects and tasks.
• Actively contribute to the product roadmap definition and execution while coordinating and prioritizing resources. 
• Ensure development of the team by giving appropriate coaching and support in the accomplishment of their tasks.
• Throughout projects you will ensure the team is delivering good quality products that meet industry and Vention standards for design and safety.
• Lead and participate in the different new product development project phases; scoping, estimation, execution and closing.
• With PLM (Product Line Manager) and Program Manager gather product requirements and ability to summarize it in a scoping document.
• Support the PLM team to ensure products and applications are launched on time, quality and budget.
• Continue developing Vention's functional and reliability testing process, increasing quality of components released.
• Act as the guardian of Vention’s hardware architecture, ensuring single standard throughout the Vention platform.
• Develop lean processes and procedures to document and support growth and sustain acceleration of the team.  
• Contribute to the progress and development of the MachineBuilder online 3D platform and customer facing documentation.
• Work closely with other product development departments, including Automation Hardware, Automation Firmware, Application R&D, Product and Software teams, ensuring strong alignment and synchronized product launch.
• Continue developing end-to-end product development and change management processes including supply chain, quality and production readiness.

• 8+ years of experience in industrial mechanical design (automated equipment, conveyors, linear actuators, structure, robotics, etc.)
• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering , member of the OIQ
• 3+ Experience as a technical team lead in face pace product development and production environment.
• Understanding of complex electro-mechanical systems normally seen in the automation industry, power transfer equipment, structural, robot and controllers.
• A high level of analytical ability and a strong capability and desire to learn, absorb new information and adapt to challenging project needs.
• Knowledge in manufacturing process and DFx (machining, molding, casting, forging) for metals and plastic components.
• Familiar with CAD software. SolidWorks an asset.
