Job Description

This is your chance to BUILD AND TRANSFORM a very successful finance department in the great fast-pace tech environment that is Vention.  This role will work mainly with the Financial Controller in improving the current accounting processes as well as taking part in specific accounting transformation projects. The position includes a full view on the accounting cycle, through the participation and leading responsibilities in period-end procedures and business processes. The candidate will ensure that best practices are maintained and improved and will manage priorities effectively and must therefore be strong in analysis and comfortable with large amounts of data.

More specifically, you will:

  • Benefit of the start-up environment and interact with the various departments and stakeholders of the business
  • Act as the guardian of the accuracy of the accounting records and prevent discrepancies 
  • Build and optimize process within our accounting software (Netsuite)
  • Help define and implement new controls across the business departments
  • Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of books and leading the corresponding period-end tasks
  • Building and execute monthly reconciliations of various accounts and analyses
  • Manage various reporting requirements, including sales tax reporting to Canadian, German and US tax authorities and build the processes surrounding these various compliance requirements
  • Coordinate and be  involved in year-end audit deliverables
  • Assist in the special projects of the Finance department (ex: Compliance for a branch outside of Canada, IFRS transition, participating in work sessions to build solid procedures, etc.)

Qualifications

  •  Designated CPA (or CPA candidate) with +/- 3 years of experience in in a high volume, deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work with precision, attention to detail and the ability to multitask in an organized manner
  • Excellent team working skills as well as being able to be reliable to carry out tasks autonomously
  • Have a significant interest for problem solving is essential as well as showing initiative and demonstrating ownership for the scope of work
  • Demonstrated knowledge  in the full accounting cycle
  • Experience working in an IFRS environment is an asset
  • Audit experience is an asset
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Excel, Word
  • Good communication skills in both English and French
  • Experience or knowledge of using Netsuite is an asset
