As part of the mechanical hardware team, your role will be key in all new products design, from the definition of the needs, early conceptual design, prototyping up to fully functional and tested products deployed in the field. You will set the standard and be the starting point for the expression of Vention DNA and signature in our products. You will work with different departments and stakeholders of the company and participate in the development of Vention's e-Commerce platform.

 

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the VP of Hardware Engineering, you will:

  •  Actively contribute to the product roadmap by conducting user research to understand product usage and propose ideas to augment value to end users.
  • Participate in all product development phases, such as: scoping, design, validation, product integration, and product launch.
  • Work with different multidisciplinary teams, Marketing, Product line management and different Engineering departments to develop innovative solutions of future generation of electronic and mechanical hardware products.
  • Ensure Vention’s DNA, signature and modular platform architecture principles are considered in all hardware developed by different groups, automation, mechanical and application.
  • Collaborate with Product line managers and Program managers to evaluate product use cases, customers and market requirements and help summarize it in scoping documents.
  • Using CAD software create inspiring and distinctive product design while keeping cost competitive and ensure ease of manufacturing.
  • Deliver innovative solutions which meet appearance requirements as well as applicable functional requirements.
  • Communicate design ideas and proposals to different stakeholders in Vention. Lead and participate in design reviews and brainstorming with different groups.
  • Responsible for the mechanical design and support of electronics enclosures in collaboration with the Automation department.
  • Design distinctive packaging of Vention’s product.
  • Work with purchasing, quality, and production departments to ensure a successful launch of new products.
  • Contribute to the progress of Vention’s website by adding content, suggesting new features, and creating technical documentation related to new products added to the Vention library.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial design or equivalent.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience.
  •  Work experience in multidisciplinary design projects.
  • Experience in designing electronic products is a must.
  • Experienced users of CAD software (Solidworks or similar parametric CAD package).
  • Good knowledge of mechanical design standards drafting and tolerancing.
  • Knowledge of design of product packaging.
  • knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, molding, casting, forging) for metals and plastic components
  • Recognized for their capacity to execute, work in teams, leadership, analysis skill and rigor.
  • Able to communicate verbally and in writing with ease in French and English
