Job Description

As part of the hardware team, your role will be to complete engineering assignments of moderately broad scope in support of the design and development of Vention new components from early conceptual design and prototyping up to fully functional and tested products in the field.

Reporting to the VP of Hardware Engineering, you will:

  • Gather product requirements and ability to summarize it in scoping document. Lead and participate to design review.
  • Design and select mechanical components to be added to the standard Vention parts library, including structural elements, linear and rotary actuators, pneumatic components, etc.
  • Source, validate, integrate and configure parts from selected manufacturers, ensuring compatibility with the rest of the platform and compliance with Vention standards
  • Actively contribute to the product roadmap while coordinating and prioritizing resources across the different department  targeted (robotics, assembly line, metrology, etc.)
  • Participate in the different new product development, project phases, scoping, estimation, execution and closing
  • Conduct tests and ensure proper validation testing of the products
  • Contribute to the progress of the MachineBuilder online 3D platform by providing new features and reporting any errors
  • Document and support the new products introduction to Vention website infrastructure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in mechanical or electromechanical engineering
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec
  • Work experience in multidisciplinary design projects
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in industrial mechanical design (automated equipment, conveyors, linear actuators, structure, robotics, etc.)
  • Knowledge of integration of electromechanical and pneumatic equipment (sensors, motors, cylinders).
  • Good knowledge of mechanical design standards and tolerancing, while communicating them effectively on technical drawings
  • Familiar with CAD software. SolidWorks an asset
  • Knowledge in manufacturing process and DFx (machining, molding, casting, forging) for metals and plastic components
  • Master programming language such Python, LabView, C++, an asset
  • Knowledge in reliability and validation testing, root cause analysis as well as data acquisition system
  • Experience as Test engineer, an asset
  • Ability to manage orders from suppliers within a global supply chain
