Certification Engineer

Job Description

As part of Vention’s Automation team, you will be main point person for all regulatory and certification items. The Certification Engineer is called to work in various phases of a project, from determining applicable standards for specific components to interacting with certification labs. More specifically you will: 

 

  • Prepare or maintain technical documents and information applicable to components and products as necessary to obtain the products’ certificates from authorized certification bodies;

  • Direct the preparation and monitoring of laboratory samples as requested by regulatory agencies or internal departments;

  • Review and maintain updated register regarding domestic or international standards, guidelines, or specifications applicable to Vention’s Automation products;

  • Create or update templates or documents such as procedures, forms, work instructions, or policies related to Product Certification;

  • Compile and maintain the product certification calendar and tracker including the relevant documentation and database;

  • Determine the types of regulatory submissions or internal documentation that are required in situations such as proposed device changes or labeling changes;

  • Participate in assessment, selection and tracking process with local or international authorized labs or certification bodies;

  • Develop employee training documents and conduct trainings per industry standards and Vention’s product specifications;

  • Provide technical review of data, communication records, or reports to assure scientific rigor, accuracy, and clarity of presentation;

  • Support Product Management and QC in all external audits conducted by 3rd parties related to Product Certifications;

  • Review product labeling, specification sheets, or final documents or reports for compliance with applicable regulations and Venton’s policies;

  • Interpret technical standards or changes and ensure that they are communicated through policies, procedures, and public disclosures;

Qualifications

  • Hold a technical diploma in mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering;

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or similar position;

  • Experience in robotics and/or industrial automation;

  • Knowledge of Electronic and IT Hardware, IEEE, IEC, UL, CE, RoHS, REACH and Product Safety standards;

  • Detail-oriented person with strong analytical, time management and presentation skills;

  • Strong communication skills in both English and French;
