Job Description

Vector: Powering Auckland. Shaping the future.

Life at Vector means being part of something bigger.

Here, your work matters. We keep the lights on across Auckland, and each of us plays a key role in the future of the energy industry, building a legacy of clean power for future generations.

We’re embracing opportunities to innovate, collaborating with leading names globally to develop, adopt and share cutting-edge technologies that drive energy sustainability and efficiency.

And while we shape the future, we prioritise yours. Enjoy a comprehensive salary and benefits package, hybrid working and flexibility with hours, and be part of a diverse, inclusive culture that values fresh thinking and career growth.

Culture that powers progress

Hear from our people on what they enjoy most about Vector, why they joined and why they stay.

The role

As a Customer Projects Specialist, you’ll take end‑to‑end ownership of customer‑initiated electricity and gas connection projects, from handover through to completion. Acting as the primary point of contact, you’ll work closely with residential, commercial and industrial customers, ensuring requirements are clearly understood, expectations are well managed, and delivery aligns with Vector’s standards, regulatory obligations and agreed SLAs. You’ll coordinate design and delivery activities, manage contractors and internal stakeholders, and maintain accurate project, financial and reporting records throughout the lifecycle.

This role offers genuine end‑to‑end project accountability, giving you autonomy to manage your own portfolio while seeing tangible outcomes from your work. You’ll be involved in visible infrastructure projects such as subdivisions, commercial developments and transport upgrades, with the opportunity to make a real impact on customer outcomes and satisfaction. You’ll also be part of a collaborative, supportive team culture where shared problem‑solving, learning and mutual support are highly valued.

Operating in a high‑volume, customer‑facing environment, you’ll balance competing priorities, proactively identify and manage risks, and bring practical solutions forward when challenges arise. You’ll work closely with Field Service Providers and internal teams such as engineering, legal and finance to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with commercial, technical and compliance requirements.

On offer are four permanent positions as Customer Projects Specialist.

Who are we looking for?

  • A customer‑centric project delivery professional with proven experience supporting and owning projects end‑to‑end, not just coordinating tasks
  • Projects experience within utilities, infrastructure or other regulated environments is advantageous; so too is a relevant tertiary/professional qualification
  • Someone highly organised and comfortable managing multiple projects concurrently, working to SLAs and maintaining momentum in a fast‑paced setting
  • A clear, confident communicator who can translate complex technical information into plain English and manage customer expectations effectively
  • A solution‑focused problem solver who takes accountability, addresses issues proactively and brings options rather than obstacles
  • A collaborative team player who contributes to shared learning, supports colleagues during peak workloads and aligns with Vector’s values and behaviours.

Why Vector?

  • Enhance your wellbeing, protect your future and empower your personal and professional growth through our extensive benefits package
  • Supercharge your career through internal opportunities, own your own development plan and drive your learning and growth
  • Join a company embracing innovation and collaborating with leading names worldwide to develop and adopt cutting-edge technologies, like X The Moonshot Factory
  • We value diverse perspectives, which drive innovation and creativity. We encourage everyone to bring their full selves to work, embracing ideas that challenge and inspire
  • Build a legacy doing work that matters – we’re keeping the lights on across Auckland, and driving a sustainable energy future for New Zealand.
