Job Description

About Us
If you love working with a diverse group of people who are all about putting the customer at the centre and enabling choice, you’ve found the right company. The energy sector is transforming at a rate of knots, and we want you to join us and be part of this transformation. Vector is a proudly Aotearoa-owned company, which operates a range of innovative businesses delivering energy and communication services to more than one million homes and commercial customers across Australasia and the Pacific. These services include electricity and gas connections, solar solutions, high speed fibre, BBQ gas bottles, air and water purification and much more – all of which are transforming the energy sector in one way or another.

Because we live in a world that is changing fast, we must continue to identify and develop better solutions that will provide value, choice and service for our customers throughout New Zealand and beyond, so the environment and communities we love continue to thrive. To do this, Vector has a vision of creating a new energy future, which will help to deliver clean, reliable and affordable energy solutions for customers.

About the role
The Asset Maintenance Engineer supports the delivery of effective maintenance investment in Vector’s electricity networks. These investments influence Vector’s ability to meet its SAIDI and SAIFI targets and ensure the longer-term reliability of the network.

You’ll monitor network performance, provide analyses of data and targeted network performance and develop maintenance standards and strategies for implementation by our Field Service Providers who are responsible for the hands-on delivery of these in the field.  In addition, you will also provide support and guidance on the application of Vector’s Engineering standards.

Put simply, this role defines the requirements across our network of assets, establishing what needs to happen and how it needs to be done, the requirements and standards for that and the planning and frequency, for our maintenance partners to then practically implement in the field.

This is an exciting opportunity to help define our network in response to our customers’ changing expectations and needs, consolidating Vector’s customer focus through understanding what our customers value and managing the strategies for our electrical assets accordingly.

Who we are looking for

  • You’ll hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant field, coupled with a breadth of electrical experience
  • You are knowledgeable of the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of your field of specialisation
  • You’ll have an aptitude for identifying and interpreting trends within Excel-based data; experience in SAP is advantageous
  • Your strong interpersonal and communication skills make you well-equipped to engage and partner with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

What we can offer you
We love working together to create a new energy future. If you want to be part of an organisation with a real and tangible purpose, Vector could be the place for you.
We offer:

  • A fun, flexible and stimulating work environment, full of interesting work being done by smart and innovative people
