Technical Lead Java Developer

  • Full-time
  • Engagement type: Permanent - Employee
  • Department: Vector Technology Solutions (VTS)

Job Description

Stay Here, Go Far

There’s much to love about living and working in New Zealand. It’s a great place to grow and develop your career and family, but as a tech expert, once you get to the top of your game, you probably feel that you have to make that big decision to look elsewhere, to move overseas to where the real action is.

If that’s where you are right now in your career, before you make that big leap, you might just want to stop and have a look at what’s happening at Vector and VTS (Vector Technology Solutions), right here on your doorstop.

VTS is collaborating with AWS and other leading global technology firms right here in NZ to work on some of the biggest energy challenges of our time. As a Tech Lead, you’ll get to work on projects that are leading the way in the global challenge towards a low carbon economy.

At VTS you have the opportunity to stay here, but go far…

About the role
VTS began creating solutions for Vector Group companies, to enable a new energy future. We’ve since turned these into solutions from which the wider energy industry can benefit, and we are actively taking them to market globally.

We’re looking for a highly skilled and motivated tech lead-level Java developer, with a background in building high-volume platforms on AWS and ambitions to make a real difference globally with your eye on something challenging.

Vector is a class-leading energy group with a strong track record in software systems engineering, with an inclusive, outcomes-focused engineering culture. We value and follow best practices through all layers of the application stack. We use customer-centred agile methodologies, TDD/BDD and the full automation of application deployment and infrastructure provisioning to deliver value.

  • You will lead technology and software design activities with the support of Principal Engineers on a product or initiative to enable our development teams to do their best work
  • You'll provide technical guidance and inspiration to our team of software developers in our energy revolution
  • You’ll help them grow in their roles, collaborating with leading global partners such as AWS to design and build valuable software systems for a global customer base.

Who are we looking for

  • You’ll be using your significantly advanced software development skills to inspire, guide and coach a high-performing team of full stack developers
  • You’re a seasoned senior level or tech lead software developer with full stack experience, Frontend and Cloud (AWS) and an expert in Backend (Java, Spring)
  • Bring with you the ability to build and foster collaborative relationships between software developers and business.

Career opportunities are endless in this environment; what are you waiting for?
