About the Role

**This is a permanent part time (20 hours per week) role that that offers the opportunity for flexible working**

In this role your primary functions include risk management across the business, on-going management of our health and safety systems and working with the Operations Manager to drive company health and safety initiatives. You will be a key participant in the inter-relationships between Vector PowerSmart Managers, Contractors and Subcontractors engaged by the company to ensure all aspects of health, safety and quality are maintained.

This role will primarily be office based in Mount Maunganui however travel will be required as per project requirements.

We are looking for someone who can contribute to our success by:

  • Maintaining robust health and safety processes and procedures, including worker training records, contractor details, and other procedures.
  • Preparing and maintaining standard and ad hoc reports, resolve queries and conduct system reviews to ensure data integrity in the health and safety system.
  • Attending to training and induction needs for workers, visitors, and contractors as required.
  • Driving excellence in HSE across the contractor base by way of pre-qualification, HSQE engagement and monitoring
  • Supporting company managers/supervisors to follow a robust event management process, including active management of corrective actions.
  • Undertaking a regular review of the types of events occurring to ensure events are being investigated thoroughly.
  • Identifying improvements and initiatives to add value to the business, and own projects through to completion.
  • Owning the employee wellbeing program, implementing strategies and incentives and ensuring annual health monitoring is undertaken.
     

Who we are looking for
To be successful in this role, you will have knowledge in H&S legislation and previous experience in workplace H&S, ideally within the construction sector. You will bring your ability problem solve,  multi-tasking and exceptional time management skills.

Additionally, you will:

  • have a tertiary qualification in Health and Safety (desirable but not essential)
  • show initiative, pay attention to detail, and follow through.
  • have excellent administrative skills, including oral and written skills.
  • have computer literacy – experience with health and safety software; and Microsoft Office programs.
  • be resourceful, and have a positive and proactive attitude, with the ability to engage with people.
  • have a Full Driver’s License.
  • a background in the electrical industry and working at height is advantageous
