Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Environment & Sustainability Specialist – Operational Standards, to work within our Business Area Wind, in the Standards Support Function and more specifically within the Environment & Sustainability (EnSu) Team. EnSu provides environmental & sustainability expertise, advice and operational support to the Business Units within the Business Area Wind; namely the Offshore Wind, Onshore Wind & Solar & Battery Business Units through all phases of the project life cycle from development and construction, through to operation and decommissioning, or divestment.

This role bridges project execution and operational excellence, with a strong focus on procurement coordination, contractor deliverables management, and environmental management systems.  Your role / what will you do? 

You will report to the Head of the Projects & Operation & Maintenance Team within the EnSu Unit, in a central support role that encompasses coordination of:

  • Vattenfall & contractor environmental & sustainability compliance tracking & reporting;
  • EnSu related data management and system maintenance
  • Process and environmental management system updates based on alignments with subject matter experts;
  • Procurement support for the EnSu team;
  • Alignment between the EnSu team and key stakeholders such as the Quality, Health & Safety Operational Standards (QHS OS) team and the Integrated Management System (IMS) team.

Your main tasks and responsibilities as Senior Environment & Sustainability Specialist – Operational Standards:

Managing Environmental Compliance

  • Review, and facilitate updates to contractor management and performance documentation;
  • Create and update tools to track contractor management and performance, and ensure efficient collection, entry, and analysis of environmental and sustainability data.
  • Monitor and audit contractors against environmental standards and deliver guidance for what the expected standards coming from Vattenfall are;
  • Analyse environmental events coming from sites from a centralised dashboard, focusing on trends and data across all wind, solar and battery assets;
  • Participate in sustainability assessments and internal audits with follow-up actions;

Performance and improvement

  • Collect environmental & sustainability performance data from sites & identify trends & outliers across the assets and systematic ways of improving data collection & management;
  • Assisting with implementation of the overall Environmental strategy for BA Wind;
  • Maintain and communicate performance updates, integrating them into reporting channels;

Contribute to incident analysis. Manage and improve incident classification and reporting in the incident management system, ensuring data accuracy and actionable insights;

Document & Process Contributions

  • Co-author and facilitate updates of key documents and processes within the Environmental Management System for continual improvements and driving simplification;
  • Assist in document control
  • Support the transition of existing and new processes and documents into a new management system under development and in coordination with QHS OS and IMS.

Environment and Sustainability within procurement

  • Lead and coordinate EnSu support for tenders and contracts where Vattenfall is the employer, including specification, procurement, and contractor onboarding;
  • Primary point of contact for procurement leads, QHS leads and coordinators, and sustainability stakeholders, ensuring that requests, updates, and improvements are communicated, tracked, and implemented effectively;
  • Ensure correct routing of requests via Vattenfall procurement platforms;
  • Represent environment in procurement strategy meetings, contributing to dashboard updates, training visibility, and process automation and improvement discussions;

As a Senior Environment & Sustainability Specialist – Operational Standards, you will have general knowledge and enthusiasm about environmental & sustainability topics but detailed knowledge about management systems, procurement and process management. With a multi-faceted role, you will need organizational, analytical and time management skills. Working with key stakeholder teams, you will be a central conduit for information both to and from the EnSu team requiring interpersonal alignments and problem solving.

Location  
Amsterdam, Kolding, Hamburg, Berlin, London, Hexham or Stockholm. Significant flexibility with working from home.

Qualifications

Your profile / who are you? 

  • Degree in a relevant discipline i.e. data science, computer science, management systems, environmental management, environmental engineering, environmental science etc ;
  • Familiarity with environmental management systems and ISO 14001;
  • Familiarity with PowerBI, Powerautomate, Powerapps and Copilot 365 is preferred, and experience with SQL, Python, or Matlab is of benefit;
  • Familiarity with Mercell or Achilles is preferred, and with Polarion or ARIS would be a benefit;
  • A high level of comfort and ease navigating new software and online tools will be needed.
