About BU Solar & Batteries

Business Unit Solar and Batteries is part of Vattenfall’s Business Area Wind which is responsible for Vattenfall’s Renewable activities within Wind, Solar PV, and Battery Storage. Today, BA Wind develops, constructs, and operates renewable generation in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. BU Solar & Batteries is responsible for all large-scale solar and battery development and has its purpose to enable fossil-free living within one generation through profitable solar and battery assets. To fulfill this purpose, BU SoBa is active along the whole value chain from early stage development to operations.


What will you do? 
As the Head of Portfolio Strategy and Business Excellence, you will:

  • Lead the development of BU SoBa’s long-term strategy and oversee its implementation through portfolio management.
  • Provide transparency on the evolution and performance of the project portfolio, identifying risks and ensuring a healthy, balanced pipeline.
  • Advocate for favorable regulatory frameworks and represent SoBa’s interests in public forums and stakeholder engagements.
  • Drive business excellence by implementing standards, methods, and tools to enhance efficiency and quality across all activities.
  • Oversee the delivery of tailored digital solutions to align with BU SoBa’s operational and strategic goals.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

As the Head of Portfolio Strategy and Business Excellence, you will:

  • Translate high-level corporate objectives into actionable strategies for BU SoBa.
  • Manage the project portfolio at a strategic level, balancing risks, resources, and business priorities to maximize value.
  • Represent BU SoBa in regulatory discussions, ensuring compliance and advocating for industry-leading practices.
  • Lead the implementation of business excellence initiatives, ensuring SoBa runs efficiently with high quality.
  • Develop a digitalization roadmap to optimize processes and support strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align SoBa’s strategy with market trends and regulatory changes.
  • Monitor key metrics and provide regular updates to senior leadership on strategy execution and portfolio performance.

 

Skills & Experience

We are looking for a candidate with the following knowledge and background:

  • Significant experience in strategy development and portfolio management in renewable energy or a related industry.
  • A track record of success in driving business transformation and operational excellence.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and stakeholder engagement in the energy sector.
  • Familiarity with digitalization processes and tools that enhance business efficiency.
  • Effective and charismatic leadership, communication, and collaboration skills in an international environment.
  • A background in strategy consulting is a plus

We are not looking for a traditional 'manager', but someone who flourishes in a self-organizing context and can help promote distributed leadership as we are working with Holacracy.

You will report to Director of Portfolio and Asset Management within BA Wind’s Solar & Batteries business unit.


The location of this position is flexible, preferably in a Vattenfall/BA Wind main location (GER/NL). Regular business trips are required.
