About BU Solar & Batteries
Business Unit Solar and Batteries is part of Vattenfall’s Business Area Wind which is responsible for Vattenfall’s Renewable activities within Wind, Solar PV, and Battery Storage. Today, BA Wind develops, constructs, and operates renewable generation in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. BU Solar & Batteries is responsible for all large-scale solar and battery development and has its purpose to enable fossil-free living within one generation through profitable solar and battery assets. To fulfill this purpose, BU SoBa is active along the whole value chain from early-stage development to operations. Within BU SoBa, The Head of Asset Management ensures long-term asset performance by driving safe, high-quality, and commercially optimized operations, from project handover to continuous improvement during the operational phase.
What will you do?
As the Head of Asset Management, you will focus on:
- Strategic leadership: Develop and implement asset strategies to ensure long-term performance, safety, and profitability.
- Project collaboration: Support project delivery teams by guiding operational requirements for asset readiness.
- Operational excellence: Lead the seamless handover from project delivery into operations, ensuring assets meet operational and commercial goals.
- Performance optimization: Drive safe, reliable, and cost-efficient operations with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder management: Act as the central interface for asset-related topics, aligning with internal teams, external partners, and service providers.

Responsibilities
As the Head of Asset Management, you will:
- Define and execute strategies for Operations & Maintenance (O&M) to ensure safe, high-quality, and cost-effective operations.
- Oversee the smooth handover process from project delivery to asset operations, ensuring compliance with operational requirements.
- Monitor asset performance against technical, financial, and legal targets, and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Manage operational risks, identify opportunities for improvement, and enhance long-term asset value.
- Ensure compliance with technical standards, safety protocols, and regulatory frameworks.
- Collaborate with delivery teams, commercial teams, and external stakeholders to ensure aligned objectives and seamless execution.
- Report asset performance metrics to senior leadership and drive initiatives for operational excellence.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for a candidate with the following knowledge and background:
- Extensive experience in asset management, ideally in solar, battery storage, or renewable energy.
- A proven track record in guiding projects into operations and leading asset performance.
- Strong expertise in Operations & Maintenance (O&M) strategies and lifecycle asset management.
- Deep understanding of technical, legal, and commercial frameworks for renewable energy projects.
- Effective and charismatic leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills in an international environment.
- A proactive, results-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Effective communication skills to align cross-functional teams and external partners.
We are not looking for a traditional 'manager', but someone who flourishes in a self-organizing context and can help promote distributed leadership as we are working with Holacracy.
You will report to the Director of Portfolio and Asset Management within BA Wind’s Solar & Batteries business unit.
Additional Information
The location of this position is flexible, preferably in a Vattenfall/BA Wind main location (GER/NL). Regular business trips are required.
